Short description
The original composition probably consisted of a horse and knight. The hole visible at the end of the horse's mane reveals where the rear part of the saddle had to be grafted to the horse. The statue is lacking in varnish on both sides of the horse's abdomen, which leads us to believe that there may have been some friction between the knight's legs and the animal's body. It was often the custom, in fact, to mould knights and saddles together in order to make the fusion easier.
