Short description
In a publication from 1996, Jennifer Montagu attributed the Tabernacle in the Roman church of San Luigi dei Francesci to Jacob Cobaert. This statue of St. Luke also seems to be by the Flemish artist. Another statue in the altarpiece that was recently acquired by Palazzo Venezia is depicted in a very similar fashion, though without his attribute, the ox. Both the St. Luke and the Tabernacle were executed at the same time, between 1578 and 1582.
