Short description
This work is the study for a detail of a much larger composition. The photographic catalogue, at the Archivio della Soprintendenza Speciale al Polo Museale di Roma (neg. SBAS RM 135270), attributes the work to Antonio Canova, comparing the model to the group of Hercules and Lichas (1795-1815), held by the Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Moderna in Rome.
