Short description
As with many wooden sculptures now at Palazzo Venezia, this work also came from the collection of George Washington Wurts (1843-1928), an American diplomat, whose collection was donated by his wife Henriette Tower to the Italian state in 1933 (W 4/212). This work depicts a nude angel, partially covered with an undulating drape and holding a laurel wreath in its hands; it forms a pair with its mirror image, identified with inv. no. PV 9217/84 and was probably part of an 18th century nativity scene.
